A recent period of dry weather has left soil in the northern part of the state unsaturated, with grasses turning brown.
Areas most effected by the drought include parts of Franklin, Lamoille and Orleans counties.

Meanwhile, most of Northern New York and much of western Vermont is currently experiencing dry conditions, despite rainfall this week.
The rain that we're seeing this week will not be enough to alleviate drought concerns.
